Sinterklaas  

Sinterklaas travels to our schools in North Hollywood, Orange County en San Diego every year to visit the children. Around December 6, the school organizes a wonderful Sinterklaas celebration.  The arrival of Saint Nicholas and the meet & greet with Sinterklaas is always a special moment. The children have a lot of fun with arts & crafts, playing Dutch games, meeting St. Nicholas, receiving a present and play together with their friends. And let's not forget the delicious pepernoten and chocolate letters.

For the parents it is a great celebration, too. A lot of childhood memories are involved. There is also a lot of fun, the opportunity to meet other international parents and to enjoy a fantastic buffet with Dutch and Flemish food.

The Sinterklaas party is a fundraiser for our school and a big event for the Dutch community in Southern California. Each year, beautiful baskets are given away through silent auction and raffle. The proceeds go entirely to our school to buy new teaching materials and books for our library.

Invitation for our Sinterklaas party on Saturday Dec 2nd 2023 


On Saturday December 2nd Sinterklaas is coming to our to our 3 schools to meet you and the children!


Program

The party starts at 10:30 am. Sinterklaas and the Pieten arrive at 11 am! The program includes a meet & greet with Sinterklaas, arts & crafts, games, a potluck lunch (pizza for the children) and lots of “pepernoten en gezelligheid”. For the children there will be a chocolate letter. The party will last until 1:30 pm.

We have a limited number of tickets. First come first serve.


Important

- Bring a dish for the potluck (this can be a main course, side dish or dessert)

- the school will provide coffee, refreshments, pepernoten, speculaas and pizza for the children.

- for parents with children: please bring a wrapped gift (value $15-20) per child with his/her first and last name on it and their age.

- Dutch and Belgian families from outside the school can come too. So if you know of some Dutch/Belgian families with children who would like to join please feel free to give them the registration link. 


Fundraiser

Sinterklaas is an important fundraiser for our school. Any donations are highly appreciated. Any amount helps…small or big! There will also be a silent auction with some amazing items to bid on, such as a trip to Mexico!

If you have any ideas about silent auction items, you know a company who could offer our school something or you can offer the school something nice yourself, please let us know. All help is greatly appreciated!
